Finding students is the hardest part of teaching as a music teacher. I am experimenting with different advertising methods and blogging about what I find. As a voice teacher and piano teacher I am always looking for ways to grow my studio. Hopefully what I learn will be beneficial to other teachers looking to find students. I am continuing my search for online ways to find some new students. I have already signed up with the following websites and have been on them for a few weeks now and here is what I have found.
Lessonmaestro.com – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
Craigslist – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
Lessonrating.com – Once again this is the best website. I am continuing to get emails from them maybe every two or three days with a lead on a student. The downside is that I have to pay to see their contact information and this lead goes to multiple teachers in the area. I haven’t wanted to try this yet but it seems like it could be worth it if you were the first to contact them. I have also gotten two students to contact me directly for lessons so I do not have to pay an additional fee. Two students after about a month seems well worth the yearly fee. I am already recommending this sight to other teachers.
Betterfly.com – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
Makingmusicfun.net – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
opusmusiceducation.com – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
Bridgetomusic.com – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
findmymusicteacher.com – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
Privatemusicteaching.org – So far I have not had any leads from this site.
I am also running a facebook ad which is highly targeted and is intended to lead people to my website. This is set to cost about $50 and would be well worth it if I even get one students. I am running a google adwords ad as well as I have read some good things about it from other teachers. This is set to show my website at the top of the search engines so users will find it more easily. It is slightly more expensive then the facebook ad so we will see.
So far the best way I have found to get students is having a good website that works its way up the search engines and referals from other students. The lessonrating website seems promising as well but I want to stay on it a little longer to completely make up my mind.
